How do Linux distros such as Lubuntu,Ubuntu and Mint recognize mobile connections?

Question by Criss: How do Linux distros such as Lubuntu,Ubuntu and Mint recognize mobile connections?
I have a Nokia 6300 and have a usb cable but to use it, I have to install the driver for it(this in Xp).
As for a Linux distribution do they support mobile connections to Pc?

Answer by hawklordi have a nokia 6700 classic and mandriva linux and can only tell you what it does on mine,

connect via usb and you will get a few options on your phone,

pc suite - never used it,
